The Fëanor piñata design was commissioned by the Prancing Pony Podcast (PPP), a podcast dedicated to exploring the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The concept of the Fëanor piñata was an inside joke from early on in the podcast and the PPP decided a design was needed to commemorate the long-running jab at Fëanor.
The Fëanor piñata design incorporates colors from Fëanor's heraldic device as drawn by Tolkien. The umlaut on the E is represented with pom poms. *Spoiler alert:* The piñata letters become more and more battered and the last letter is burnt because Fëanor's body turned to ash when he died. There are two variations of the design, one with strings holding the piñata letters and one with no strings and the letters are stacked because that layout fits better when printed on clothing.
